AdBlock Plus is a powerfull add-on for firefox that can help you get away from those annoying advertisements on your favorite websites. All you need to do is simply install this add-on and once you restart firefox, you shall find a small red ABP icon at the top right corner of your browser. Whenever you come accross any advertisement in a website, if you'd like to block it, just right click on the ad and from the pop-up menu, choose 'AdBlock Image'. This will open up some options with the source code of the advertisement. Usually it shows a link to an external website from where the ad is served. For example if the ad serving website is www.advert.com, you shall block adverts from this site by typing in '*.advert.com*' without quotes. That's it, you no more get any adverts served by the blocked website. One more cool thing about this add-on is that, you can even choose if you want to block this ad only for the current web page or to every other web page displaying the ad. Be carefull in creating the adblock item as it supports wildcards, blocking with wildcards will prevent you from surfing any website with the advert link there. For example, in our own website, we may have some ads whose images are served by our own servers. Blocking the image will bring you source like www.pcxplore.com/images and if you block it with */wildcards, you shall not browse our website itself. So if you're unsure about what you're doing and require any suggestions, you always have our experts help section. |
