So, after a little math, we figured out that the iPod Shuffle would sport a price tag of US$44 and the iMac would cost more than US$ 2.047. The products also have a 1 Year guarantee on the quality. The modus operandi seems a little shady as these products are sold only online and are delivered by placing a call to Apples Shanghai distributor. Apple has similar refurbished products sale in other countries such as US, Japan and UK, but to a very small extent. Apples tryst with China started in 2008 just before the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics where the first retail store was opened. On retrospection, we realize that Apples treating China as a dumping ground of sorts! Then, what would explain the infiltration of used iPods and other Apple merchandise on the Chinese streets? Apple manufactures most of its products in China and if the giant thinks that the Chinese would indulge in second-hand iPods, they are terribly wrong! China is famous for generic iPods and other electronic gadgets which are available at much lower rates than Apples second-hand products. So, Apples little gimmick isnt gonna find much favor here!
