A new web service is now at your disposal and this one is designed to help you manage and track the use of power in your homes. The Hohm (Microsoft prefers this version) will employ the grid technology to capture all the data on how much energy is used and also shares the results. Moreover, the Microsoft Hohm is currently a free online beta version which helps you save a few bucks apart from energy. The Beta version will fine tune the service resulting in augmenting value. Microsoft isnt the only player in this zone with Google and Cisco having been there, done that and the works. The idea behind this is the awareness of the quantity of power used will motivate users to reduce the consumption. Needless to say, this one will take sometime to materialize.
