As the year draws to an end, the contest for the “most netbooks sold” reaches a heightened stage of frenzied anticipation. Now, it has been finally revealed that Acer has bagged the top spot in the last couple of months.

Leaving the ASUS Eee PC (touted to be the best in the industry) behind, Acer emerges as the winner with 38.3% of the total market share by selling 2.15 million netbooks. On the flip side, ASUS stands pretty at 30.3% with total sales of 1.7 million. So, what’s next ASUS?
