Free Software To Compare Excel Sheets

Tuesday, 29 September 2009

Compare Sheets Comparing two Excel sheets is no more a wild goose chase. Here is the new software which automatically compares the sheets and delivers the result.

Comparing two Excel sheets is really a tedious job. Though vlookup and other such formulas consumes effort, most of the times they are prone to errors. Now, just forget all the manual comparisons. Compare Sheets is new portable software which efficiently does the error-free comparison between two Excel sheets.

The only drawback here is that the software supports only standard xls format and not the recent xlsx format. Hence, the conversion is necessary for the documents other than the xls format. The usage is pretty simple. Just create new .xls file with the data you wish to compare in sheet1 and sheet2, and load the document in to the software. The data in the sheet1 is displayed as table1 and the data in the sheet2 is displayed as table2. Now, you need to select the reference field by selecting column name for both the tables. Finally, click on the compare button for the automatic comparison. You are also provided with an option to add the result sheet with the existing document or as a new sheet.

One important thing that should be cited here is that the column used to compare tables should be homogeneous (either numbers or text, but not both). Compare Sheets is capable with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and is really a boon for the users working on data related jobs.
